Are you ever so proud of your child that you could just break? The educate is trying to create the first issue of the literary magazine but there is currently no funding for the communicate. Like most schools there aren’t little piles of change sitting around waiting for a project. Last night. Hubski and I were discussing the possibility of making a contribution to help cover the costs of the first issue. C immediately offered to donate the allow money he has saved. We are stingy with allow and we don’t buy them anything beyond the basics like clothes and shoes. New video games and such come out of their allowance or they undergo to act until their birthday. (I know we are harsh but those boys know the value of a dollar.) Anyway. I was so touched that C was willing to give his cash to help the school. What a great guy! So now I am torn. I will feel bad if C gives up his change because he gets so little. However it would be wonderful for him to conclude the joy of giving to something he really believes in. Here’s my plan…express me what you think. I have a lot of fabric that needs to be cut for the soft sculpture unit I am doing with the art teacher. What if I “paid” him to help me (because I *will* need help) and let that be the money he donates to the literary magazine? I think being honest with kids is the way to go — and if he really wants to donate I would let him donate a portion and let him bring home the bacon out the rest…have a talk with him about how you and hubs want to do something too - so maybe you can figure out a way to do it together without tapping into his life savings! If C is moved to donate his allowance then I’d say let him do that! The feeling he has inside giving of his own resources is something you can’t duplicate for him. Fabric cutting assistance might be a way to add to his donation…. I’ve done that… paid my kids when they were littler. I think it helps them to learn the value of earning the money they have. I think it’s a great idea. Then he will get the manifold benefit of a) earning what he contributes and b) contributing to something he’s excited about and believes in. Good idea! First pat yourself on the back for raising such a wonderful child. WOW! We all need to hear more stories about this type of thoughtfulness. Here is my two cents. Let him donate the money and don’t pay him for the work he does for you allow him to really gift. Then in a bring together of weeks buy him something he wants (video game or such) for “no reason.” Or act him to a movie at full-price etc. Just alter it really special. Then explain about random acts of kindness. I really believe that those who give are enriched in many ways. Children who give without a thought of receiving deserve special reward. Keep smiling. You are doing a great job! "I wish" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-10-13 05:05:07

I wish I was more encouraging and encouraged right now but I fall miserably short. Not that I am depressed or down - ok maybe a little down - but I don’t feel “up” either. There are many contributing factors to my feelings - I just started a new job. I just moved 1300 miles and am re-establishing my roots. I’m living out of my suitcase. I have no money. I’ve been ill and I’ve had to switch to being a morning person after years as an evening/night person. Do you appreciate how hard that is on one’s body and mind? Besides all that there is family drama going on - not necessarily bad drama - but drama none-the-less. Sometimes I swear my head will explode but that could be just my headcold. I wish I didn’t have all this going on right now. I wish I had moved here into my own house and that my biggest concern right now was decorating issues. I wish I didn’t have to work didn’t have to scrounge didn’t have to be frugal didn’t have to worry about how much gas costs. I wish my book was published and that a second and even third were on their way to being published so that I wouldn’t have to work anymore. Really don’t know what else to say - I’m tired and had nightmares last night about oversleeping and being late to work. It was terrible. But oh well. My new job is OK - I’m kind of wishing I had just gone back into clerical because I’m not so sure I want to do this kind of work anymore. Of course the job isn’t that difficult and really shouldn’t have the problems the other one did emotion wise. XHTML: You can use these tags: <a href="" title=""> <abbr title=""> <acronym title=""> <b> <blockquote cite=""> <cite> <code> <del datetime=""> <em> <i> <q cite=""> <strike> <strong> I believe that imagination is stronger than knowledge That myth is more potent than history That dreams are more powerful than facts That hope always triumphs over experience That laughter is the only cure for grief And I believe that love is stronger than death.

After getting telecommunicate calls from my editor and publisher calling my wife and parents and opening a ton of awesome e-mails from other writers my brain took a brief detour to The Silly Side. For example: During my first conversation with the first girl I ever went on a date with. I noticed my shoelace was untied…yet I never would’ve thought the awkward moment which followed would alter it into a NY Times beat selling book. When I slipped on wet grass my friend tumbled over me and two girls we were trying to impress began laughing hysterically…I never would’ve thought that embarrassing moment would make it into a NY Times best selling schedule. And when I finally identified the bizarre flavor of my first real kiss…I never would’ve thought that comprehend (slightly adjusted) would make it into a NY Times beat selling schedule. But it’s true! So I’d like to send a heartfelt thank you to everyone who read And I’d like to send a gigantic heartfelt thank you to everyone who told their friends that they needed to read it too. Wow! A marine creature with the head and upper body of a beautiful young maiden and with the lower body of a look for. She can be found in seas and lakes or lying on a rock and combing her hair with one hand while holding a mirror in the other. Mermaids sometimes foretell the future and are often accompanied by seals. According to myth they lure sailors by singing and with lovely music. They live in a kingdom on the bottom of the sea and it is here they take their prisoners to. From this story the fear amongst the sailor grew and they thought that seeing a mermaid would cause bad luck: it could predict death by drowning. The belief in mermaids is not limited to a few countries but there are tales from all over the world (in India for instance there are the Apsara beautiful water nymphs). However most of those tales were told by sailors who "saw" them on their long journeys. The idea of mermaids and mermen the male equivalent could be based on creatures from Greek and Babylonian mythology: Sirens and Tritons of the Greeks and the fish gods who were half human and half look for from the Babylonians. This is a inspect of good copy but poor fabric choice. The copy is #13 from the 02/07 air of. My impatience caused me to go the design affect. The copy works best with a soft fabric that drapes easily. My fabric was somewhat firm cotton. The seaming should be subtle. My use of contrasting fabric just missed the mark. I think it would be better in one fabric preferably something without a directional create. The displace pieces are cut on the bias causing a directional print to be skewed at awkward angles. I don’t hate the skirt but I don’t like it either. The fit is perfect. With a different fabric choice. I would like it. I wanted to make this pattern and I was anxious to use this fabric. In hindsight two projects would have been a wiser choice - a different pattern for this fabric and a different fabric for this pattern. I am trying to begin sewing. I sewed (many many) years ago but gave up because I couldn’t adjust the patterns to fit properly. Now to help my daughter sight clothes that actually fit her. I am ready to try again.
